‘In defence of digital’

by Nikolozi Meladze

Simon Sweetman:

If you're still looking down on digital recordings from your analogue high-horse you should consider dismounting now, lest someone think you're jousting and impale you with a spear. By advocating an analogue is better approach, you're really defending an old system that made music production an unattainable goal for many people who played an instrument, and you're rubbishing something that sounds negligibly different. That's snobby and elitist, and you're being an ignorant dick. Analogue recording gear was expensive, and its cost was the de facto gatekeeper to the mysterious and illustrious playground that was music recording. Now everybody gets to play on the playground. Yay!

Great article by Sweetman. He says everything I've ever wanted to say about Digital vs Analog debate.
